The Combat Sambo League, the All-Russian Sambo Federation and the Red Square media group present the new miniseries “The History of Sambo Development”.
The idea of the project is to tell novice athletes about what was before them, and to remind current athletes that one of the important elements of sambo philosophy is the connection of generations.
Sambo is a national sport that combines the best elements of various martial arts from the countries of the former Soviet Union, as well as various types of wrestling and the system of self-defense of the peoples of the world. Sambo is a self-defense without weapons. Sambo teaches not only self-defense, but also tempers the character, forms the strength of mind and endurance of the body. These qualities help not only during the fight on the carpet, but also in life.
There are four episodes in the miniseries “The History of Sambo Development”: 1) the period of the emergence, development and recognition of sambo as a sport; 2) the military period from 1939 to 1945; 3) the post-war period of recovery and the recognition of a new sport in the international arena; 4) a time of great victories and recognition of sambo as an Olympic sport.
