400 participants from 22 regions of the country competed for awards of the Ukrainian cadet championship. These competitions were held on September 9 and 10 and crowned the “trilogy” of national tournaments, which were hosted by the resort village of Karolino-Bugaz in the Odessa region.
Vahid Sabirov, senior coach of the youth national team of Ukraine, Vice-President of the Odessa regional Sambo Federation:
“As you know, due to the quarantine, training and competition processes were stopped, canceled or previously postponed to the fall of 2020. Now all sports organizations are ‘getting back to normal’ by implementing event calendars for the second half of the year, taking into account the recommendations of state institutions, primarily the Ministry of health protection. Guided by this, the Council of the National Sambo Federation of Ukraine made an unprecedented decision to hold three important events in one place in a short time in order to comply with the relevant standards during quarantine, since moving around cities is not relevant today, and there is very little time to prepare national teams for successful participation in international competitions.
Let me remind you that the Youth Sambo Cup of Ukraine was held from September 4 to 6, the Championships among adults was held on September 7 and 8, and the National Championship among cadets was held on 9 and 10 of September. All competitions were qualifiers for participation in international competitions, including the World and European Championships in all age groups, of course, if they are held this year. In order to understand how the tournaments were held, the presence was not mandatory, but the whole Internet was full of the information and the whole world of Sambo in Ukraine lived by these events!”
