The gain of three awards of the World Sambo Championship is good achievement for Lithuanian national team, the president of Lithuanian Sambo Federation Eduardas Rudas has declared to agency “R-Sports”.
Lithuanians Victor Tomashevich (a weight category up to 74 kg, combat sambo), Aureliya Shukite (up to 68 kg) and Santa Pakenite (over 80 kg) became the owners of bronze medals of 35th World Championship, passed in Vilnius.
“On globally estimation a winning of three medals of tournament is greater success for our country, — has told Rudas. — And two bronze medals won Lithuanian women in final day of competitions, became the compensation for the previous failures: girls, it is necessary to recognize, have pleasantly surprised”.
At the same time the interlocutor of agency has added, that the federation “counted on a little bit greater results — one victory over the World Championship”.
“We hoped, that Sergey Grechikho will manage to confirm a title of the World Champion, — has added Rudas. — But me the excessive confidence has brought: in advance I have told, that Sergey should be in the final fight. Now I understand, that should not speak it...”. We shall note, that the representative of Lithuania was defeated in starting fight of tournament.
“But nevertheless I consider as the main achievement that the World Championship in Lithuania has passed at a good organizational level. And for this purpose we have made everything, that could. Though if we had more time for preparation, all would pass much better”, — the president of national federation has concluded.
