In the beginning of October in Yerevan has passed 2nd International youthful tournament on sambo-wrestling in prizes of twice Hero of Soviet Union Nelson Stepanyan, devoted to the 20th anniversary of the CIS and 20th anniversary of independence of Republic Armenia. Competitions have been lead with assistance of National Olympic committee of Armenia, Representation of federal agency “Rossotrudnichestvo” in Armenia and Armenian Sambo Federation.
In tournament have taken part more than 100 young men and girls struggled for the awards accordingly in ten and eight weight categories. Young sambo-wrestlers represented commands from 7 subjects of the Russian Federation (the Astrakhan, Leningrad, Nizhniy Novgorod, Sverdlovsk, Ulyanovsk, Moscow and Krasnodar regions), as well as cities of Armenia (Vanadzor, Gumri, Nor Achin, Idjevan, Yegvard, Artashat and Yerevan) and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

Competitions became good check of forces before World championships among youth and juniors, which will start on October 13th in Riga (Latvia). Although on tournament in capital of Armenia there have not arrived first numbers of youthful commands in their weight categories.
Winners and prize-winners of the international tournament on prizes of Nelson Stepanyan was awarded diplomas, medals and memorable cups. For visitors of competitions excursions on historical seats of Armenia — to Echmiadzin, Garni, Ghegard have been organized.
