Sambo in Russia, ESF bulletin: December 31, 2011 — January 15, 2012

On December 31, Four-time world champion in combat sambo Fedor Emelyalenko (on photo) tactically exceeded the Japanese adversary, 2008 Judo Olympic champion Satoshi Ishii, and won spectacularly a fight in the contest in Tokio.

“I expected that Fedor would decisively win the fight by knock-out” said chief coach of Russian national team in combat sambo Alexandre Konakov. “Actually, I didn’t suspect that he would win so quickly. Apparently, Fedor preliminary estimated the contest and fight of Japanese adversary, defined its tactic and worked on that during the trainings, and perfectly carried out his plan into reality. The combat was very beautiful and spectacular. I congratulate warmly Fedor on his victory” said Alexandre Konakov. He also added that Fedor has a wide range of technical hooks; well trained hand, blows which lead to the victory. This is one of the integral parts of his traits. Fedor is a professional and he seriously prepares to each contest. He had a great fighting spirit, was ready to win and technically realized well planned fight. It was the 33rd victory for the Last Emperor having one draw and 4 defeats.



On February 16, The XII international science and practical conference named “Sambo goes around the world” dedicated to the memory of Professor Evgeniy Chumakov, honored coach of USSR and honored master of sports, will be held in the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sports, Youth and Tourism (RSUPESY&T).

The organizers of this event are the All-Russian Sambo Federation, International Sambo Federation and RSUPESY&T. The articles of participants will be published and all comers are invited. Young scientists will take the floor (without scientific degree): postgraduate students, masters, seekers of the degree and students of universities. The President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev approved the law concerning the administrative penalty in form of disqualification for the period of three years for coaches and sports doctors using doping during the preparation period of the athletes to participate in the competitions, informed the administration for communication of Russian Olympic Committee.

According to the results of 2011 the competitions of the All-Russian Sambo Federation didn’t have any abuse of anti-doping code.
