The international sambo tournament of category A “President’s Cup of the Republic of Tatarstan” in 27 weight categories will be held within October 4 −7, 2018 in the palace of martial arts “Ak Bars”. More than 200 sportsmen from 25 countries will take part in the competition: Germany, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, The Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Serbia, Greece, Estonia, Romania, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Palestine, Mongolia, Belarus, Russia and others. In 2018 the tournament was qualified with category A, which allows the winners of the tournament to qualify for the title of Master of Sports of the International Class, as well as receive rating points to take part in the race for participation in the European Games 2019.
The organizers of the competitions are the following organisations: International Sambo Federation (FIAS), All-Russian Sambo Federation, Sambo Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan, ANO “Directorate for Sports and Social Projects”, Ak Bars Holding Company and Autonomous non-commercial organization “Ak Bars Art Union”, which is the General Promoter of the Sambo Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan.

It is to highlight that the European Sambo Championship in Kazan in 2016 was recognized as the best one in the history of European and World Sambo.
