More than 350 participants from 19 regions gathered the Youth Sambo Cup of Ukraine, which was held from 4 to 6 September in the village of Karolino-Bugaz, Odessa region. Kharkiv’s sambo athletes won the championship in the team competition in both age categories (under 18 and under 20).
Before the competition, a seminar for representatives of Femida was held on changes in the FIAS rules. More than 40 specialists from 20 regions of the country participated in theoretical and practical classes conducted by experienced judges of the international category.
Anatoly Kantur, Chairman of the referee panel of the National Sambo Federation of Ukraine:
— Despite the difficulties associated with the quarantine, all those who applied for the seminar arrived. I think we did a good job over the course of three days, both in the classroom and in the gym. I would like to note another positive point: young referees participated in the seminar, because we must always think about the continuity of generations. And it is very good that among them are athletes who have won and continue to win medals for Ukraine at prestigious international competitions. It is also nice that there is a profile work in the regions, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkiv regions are among the leaders. The past competitions have shown that the referees have coped with their duties.

— Everyone was happy to meet again in the competition hall after the forced pause due to the quarantine. The Youth Sambo Cup of Ukraine is the first of three tournaments in Karolino-Bugaz, followed by the national Championships among adults and cadets. All competitions have qualifying status for the world and European Championships. I want to say that even in this difficult time, the organization of the tournament was at the highest level, and I thank the team of the Odessa Sambo Federation headed by Alexander Adzelenko and Vahid Sabirov for this.
