The event will be organized by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the Department of Sports and Tourism of Moscow, the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), as well as the All-Russian Sambo Federation and the Moscow Sambo Federation.
Due to the difficult epidemiological situation in the country and according to the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor, the competitions will be held without spectators. However, everyone will be able to watch the Cup fights through a live broadcast, which will be organized on the All-Russian Sambo Federation website and in social networks.

In addition, as part of the World Cup, on December 18 at 14:00, a solemn ceremony will be held to unveil a monument to the founders of sambo on the main sports alley of the Luzhniki
According to the idea of the author, sculptor Salavat Shcherbakov, the monument to the founders of sambo in Luzhniki will become not only a popular meeting place for people of the “sambo brotherhood”, but also a place for taking the oath of a sambist and accepting young athletes into the sambist community. The sculptural composition can be roughly divided into three parts. So, the left side of the monument tells about the formation of sambo, about what our domestic sport was based on. Here, 1938, the year of the founding of sambo in the USSR, is also immortalized; figures of the founders — Viktor Spiridonov, Vasily Oshchepkov and Anatoly Kharlampiev are presented. The right side of Salavat Shcherbakov’s composition is decorated with a relief depicting soldiers in attack and a portrait of the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of the USSR Yevgeny Chumakov. The central block of the monument tells about the present day, where the main element is the sambist throw — the mill.
“Indeed, the monument turned out to be very beautiful and worthy. I think that it will become not just a memorial, it will be a ‘mecca’ of sambo. The place where the oath of sambists will be taken. The largest sambo competitions and festivals will be held here,” concluded the head of the All-Russian Federation Sergei Eliseev.
