WADA publishes the list of banned drugs for 2022

December 27 2021

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) publishes the 2022 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods (the List) ; the 2022 Summary of Major Changes and Explanations ; and the 2022 Monitoring Program. The 2022 List was approved by the WADA Executive Committee at the September 14, 2021 meeting and becomes effective January 1, 2022.

The list is published three months before it takes effect so that athletes, their entourage and other stakeholders can become aware of any changes. Ultimately, athletes are responsible for banned substances found in their bodies and for the banned methods used. Athletes’ associates are also responsible for anti-doping rule violations if they are found to be complicit. Consequently, if there is any doubt about the status of a substance or method, it is important that they seek advice from their respective Anti-Doping Organizations (International Federation or National Anti-Doping Organization).
