On the first day of the World Masters Championship more than 140 athletes from 19 countries gathered on their mats. Medals were played in 18 weight categories among men and in 2 weight categories among women.

For the first day representatives of Kazakhstan won 11 gold medals, on the second place are representatives of FIAS (Russia) and 8 gold medals, the third place in the unofficial team standings is occupied by Tajikistan with one gold medal.
