The Turkish Sambo Championship, organized under the evolving Sports Industries Federation under the Ministry of Sports, was held with great enthusiasm on April 5-6, 2025. The championship determined the winners of Turkey in competitions organized in sport and combat sambo.
The opening ceremony began with an impressive speech by Sambo Coordinator Kadir Yusufoglu at the Başakşehir Youth Sports Center in Istanbul. Yusufoglu spoke hopefully about the future of sambo in Turkey, and the keen interest of the participants who filled the hall indicated that this sport will reach out to the masses in the coming years.
Throughout the championship, men and women competed in separate categories and showed outstanding results. Representatives of many clubs from all over Turkey participated in the event and a total of 250 athletes took part in the competition. As a result of the fierce competition in sport and combat sambo, the winners from Turkey received their awards to great applause.
The opening ceremony was attended by Başakşehir District Police Chief, Başakşehir District Youth and Sports Director, 2nd Consul General of Russia in Istanbul, Vice President of Russia-Turkey Friendship Society, Vice President of Tatneft Turkey and other important persons.
The Sambo Championship was an important step in Turkey’s sporting history, providing an unforgettable experience for athletes and spectators alike. It is expected that in the coming years it will be organized with wider participation.
