On July 3-6, the Republic Cup was held among young men (2007-2008), juniors (2005-2006) and men (2004 and above) dedicated to the Honored Coach of the USSR and Azerbaijan Abulfaz Aliyev.
The competition was held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the Absheron Olympic Sports Complex. Medals were awarded in the discipline of sports sambo.
350 athletes from cities and regions of the republic participated in the competition. Athletes from sports clubs, sports organizations, DYUSSH, DYUSSH OR, etc. participated.
The Republic Cup was a qualifying round. The teams for the III CIS Games, the World Youth and Juniors Championship and the World Championship were determined.
Representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, the leadership of the Sambo Federation of Azerbaijan, as well as famous athletes of the country participated in the opening of the competition as guests.
