On January 17, a comprehensive Sport Sambo and Combat Sambo training seminar took place at “Kalte Halle Gym” in Bad Kissingen. A total of 74 athletes from eleven different clubs participated. The seminar was specifically designed as preparation for the German Championships as well as upcoming national and international tournaments.

The first training session focused on Sport Sambo. Various throwing techniques were introduced and practiced as also in the ground game. National coach Albert Köpplin emphasized on technical understanding and clean execution of the techniques. The second session was dedicated to Combat Sambo. Main focus was on striking in the standing position, training of punching techniques and combinations, including transitions into throws. The session was concluded with friendly sparring to apply the techniques in a realistic setting
Youth participants trained separately on the second floor, led by Oleg Gabrielov, vice-president of the German Sambo Federation.

For Fabian Schley, president of the German Sambo federation, the seminar was a huge success with the high number of participants, the involvement of multiple clubs. He thanks the Kalte Halle Gym and his coaches Adam and Albert Köpplin for organizing the seminar and the good preparation for the coming tournaments.
