On February 26, as part of a working visit by Sergey Eliseev, President of the European Sambo Federation, an important meeting was held with Ugur Erdener, President of SportAccord and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Also present at the meeting was Kadir Yusufoglu, General coordinator of the sport of Sambo in the Republic of Türkiye.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed current issues in the development of global sports, as well as strategic directions for promoting Sambo both in Europe and in Türkiye.
The parties paid special attention to the prospects for including Sambo in the official program of the 2027 European Games, which will be held in Türkiye. Ugur Erdener praised this initiative, noting the rapid growth of Sambo and its compliance with international standards for major multi-sport forums.
In addition to integration into the Games program, the meeting discussed mechanisms for cooperation between international sports organizations to strengthen the positions of national federations and improve athlete training systems.
