The development of sambo in Poland began in 2005. The first president of the Poland sambo federation was Wiesław Błach. The Polish athletes took part in the European sambo championship in 2005. Shalek Magdalena (-60 kg) showed a very good result for the national team and won the third place.
The Polish sambo association set up on the 9th August 2011. The association is accredited by the Ministry of Sport. Many specialists contributed to the development of sambo: Wiesław Błach, Włodzimierz Pashyts, Marek Porycki, Oleksandr Gorbayiuk and others.
There are 6 sports clubs with 250 athletes in Poland.
