Ahead of the Germany Sambo Open 2026 in Karlsruhe, an educational seminar for sambo referees was successfully organized, bringing together officials of different experience levels to improve their knowledge, enhance officiating skills, and promote consistent interpretation of the competition rules.
The seminar consisted of two main parts: a theoretical session and practical training, allowing participants to combine classroom learning with real competition experience.

The theoretical session took place in the conference room, where referees reviewed the latest updates to the Sambo Rules, discussed challenging officiating situations, and analyzed complex cases that frequently arise during competitions. Particular attention was paid to ensuring consistent interpretation of the rules, decision-making in difficult situations, and effective cooperation within the referee team. At the conclusion of the classroom session, all participants completed a written theoretical examination to evaluate their understanding of the rules and officiating principles.

The practical part of the seminar was conducted directly on the competition mats during the Germany Sambo Open 2026. Referees had the opportunity to officiate real international matches under the guidance of experienced instructors, applying the knowledge gained during the theoretical sessions. Each bout provided valuable opportunities to review officiating decisions, discuss complex situations, and further improve practical refereeing skills.
The organizers praised the participants for their professionalism, active engagement, and commitment to continuous improvement. Educational seminars of this kind play an essential role in developing highly qualified referees, improving the overall quality of officiating, and supporting the continued growth of Sambo at the international level.
